What IS CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 100 cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant. CBD and THC are the two cannabinoids that we know the most about. THC is the only psychoactive cannabinoid, or in other words, THC is the only cannabinoid that will get its user “high”. Cannabidiol (CBD), on the other hand, will not make you feel high. Neither will any of the other compounds present in full-spectrum CBD oil. CBD provides a variety of health and wellness benefits and is even more effective when it works in concert with other cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids.

How DOES CBD WORK?

CBD promotes the normal function of one’s Endocannabinoid System. The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a collection of cell receptors located throughout the body’s brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. The ECS facilitates cells communication with each other and with tissues, organs and larger systems within the body. This is because CBD attaches to the endocannabinoid’s CB2 receptors, which are found more often on immune cells, in the gastrointestinal tract and in the peripheral nervous system. The body naturally produces some of its own endocannabinoids, but enzymes often break down these endocannabinoids.
Full spectrum hemp-derived CBD oil stops the enzyme FAAH from breaking down all of the body’s anandamide (a blissful naturally produced endocannabinoid) for use by cells. This process is the reason CBD is a natural mood-lifter without psychoactive effects. Thus, the ECS also regulates our patterns externally, including how we consciously interact with our community and environment.

What IS FULL-SPECTRUM CBD?

All of the plant’s natural cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids work together synergistically to create what scientists refer to as an “entourage effect.” Together, these compounds magnify the therapeutic benefits of the plant’s individual components—so that the impact of the whole plant is greater than the sum of its parts. Once particular cannabinoids are isolated out, which is what happens in those products that contain 0% THC, the effectiveness of a particular cannabinoid, CBD for example, may diminish. As such, Greenman Gardens Full-Spectrum CBD contains everything needed for the entourage effect, including cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. Our product contains less than 0.3% THC, as required by law. Using independent 3rd party labs, Greenman Gardens tests its product in 3 separate stages: (1) the hemp material after harvest (2) the crude oil after extraction, and (3) the end product after Greenman’s pharmacist has completed a particular batch’s formulation.
